Hardwood Floor Installation

Home / Hardwood Floor Installation

What a good install starts with

A new hardwood floor is only as good as what’s under it. Before we lay a board we test the subfloor for moisture, fix what needs fixing, and let the wood sit in your house long enough to acclimate. Then we install solid unfinished or prefinished hardwood with the right expansion gaps and clean transitions. That’s the boring part, and it’s the part that decides whether you get gaps and squeaks two winters from now.

How it goes

• A call with Ken first, then an in-home visit to measure and test moisture

• Subfloor prep, and time for the wood to acclimate in your house

• Layout, fastening, expansion gaps, and transitions to the rooms around it

• For unfinished floors: sanding, your stain, and your choice of standard or Armor finish

Our work is guaranteed. If something is our fault, we fix it, no questions. Full refinishes and site-finished installs done with WearMax Armor also carry our 10-year wear-through warranty on the finish. Here's exactly what's covered.

The flooring we carry

We stock Superior Flooring from Herwynen Sawmill: solid and engineered maple, hickory, ash, red oak, and white oak in Premier, Select, and Heritage grades, with boards up to 90 inches long. Long boards make a room look bigger and calmer; that’s the main reason we carry it. If you’ve already picked something else, we’ll install that too.

Prefinished Superior floors carry the mill’s finish warranty, up to 35 years depending on the product. Our workmanship guarantee covers the installation itself.

How pricing works

Every install is priced on square footage, subfloor condition, the wood you choose, and whether you want standard finish or WearMax Armor.

Here’s the order things happen in:

1. Call or text Ken. He’ll ask about the rooms and what you’re after, and give you a realistic range from photos and rough dimensions.

2. When it makes sense, we come out, measure, and test the subfloor.

3. You get one written quote with every option priced separately. That number doesn’t move.

We work across central Pennsylvania: Harrisburg, Camp Hill, Mechanicsburg, Carlisle, Hershey, York, Selinsgrove, State College, and the towns between. Our crews are in those areas every week.

Not sure what your floors need?

Call or text Ken at 717-320-6393. He'll ask about the rooms, how you use them, and what you're hoping for, and tell you honestly whether you need a refinish, a recoat, or nothing yet. Photos help. Nobody comes out until it makes sense to.
